Closing your account
Before you can close your account, you must have a zero balance. Please note that we do not charge a service plan fee if none of your accounts have any holdings or cash available.Â
That means you must first:Â
- Transfer or sell all your holdings
- Withdraw any remaining cashÂ
Any holdings with a small or zero value still have to be removed before the account can be closed. One option for such holdings is for you to donate them to charity via ShareGift.
Please note that it will take two working days for the cash to become available after selling shares. After selling funds, it can take up to four working days before you can withdraw the cash.
You will need to withdraw all the cash once your trades have settled.
How to close your account
- Log into your account and select Account > Close account.Â
- Select the account(s) you wish to close. Then scroll down and click submit closure request.Â
- Click to Confirm.Â
We aim to process this request within five working days. However, during busy periods this process can take longer.Â
You will have six weeks log in access from the date of a successful account closure request. You will not be charged a fee during this period.Â
Internal transfer
If you have multiple accounts and want to close one of them, you can make an internal transfer. You can move either cash or holdings to one of your other accounts.Â
