We’ve been hoping all the grown-ups returning from holiday would be sufficient to goose the FTSE 100 index into life. Instead, the markets overall have been proving fairly placid (ignoring the Nasdaq as it’s disproportionately weighted by just five shares) and we suspect wars and politics are exerting a stifling effect, simply because no-one seems to know what’s really going on. We’ve a strong suspicion oil prices and supply are about to throw a spanner in the works.

Currently, movement below 10,650 risks promoting reversal to an initial 10,480 points on the FTSE. Our secondary, if broken, calculates at 10,415 points and “hopefully” a market bottom.
Unfortunately, there’s a major problem with these innocent little drops as they target the market into a zone where we can project 9,450 points as a third level target.
If triggered, the tightest stop is at 10,700 points. There’s also a “risk” that the market shall rebound at 10,530, this representing a new target frame being used on the FTSE 100.
However, we’ve our usual alternate scenario, this time a positive view. Above 10,770 could potentially trigger tame movement to an initial 10,790 points with our secondary, if bettered, at 10,870. If the market intends to continue wandering in circles, this positive scenario feels likely.
Have a good weekend.
